Big Girl Room

After previous discussion about converting Peyton's crib in to a toddler bed, I decided to start working on some "big girl room" ideas.  I've spent countless hours on Pinterest (what else is new) and have gotten loads of ideas and projects I want to take on.  When I'll do all of these, I'm not really sure.

For the time being, I'm going to focus on just a few.  I ordered some bedding that should be in any day now.  All the pictures online look really pastel, but the colors are actually much more bold.  This picture is tiny but it's the only one I could find that really shows the colors.

Finding the right toddler-sized bedding proved to be quite difficult.  I found lots of things I loved, but I wasn't willing to spend $100 on a bedding set for a 2 year old.  Finally I found this Circo set, but of course it had been discontinued.  Lucky for me, I found it on Ebay for only $49 with free shipping!

The first project I'm going to take on is this...

I'm in LOVE with these embroidery hoops, and they're sooo easy to make!  Right now we have the hand painted letters over Peyton's crib, but the black/white/pink won't go well with the new bedding.  I thought these would be perfect!  Then off I went to Etsy and found the perfect fabric for my hoops...

The second project I'd like to tackle are curtains for her room.  Right now she has black room darkening curtains, but I want to lighten and brighten up her room.  I'm going to purchase room darkening blinds instead and opt for more colorful curtains.  They can be so expensive, so I found this cute idea on...where else...Pinterest!  Just use a King size sheet, cut it in half, then use iron-on binding tape or a sewing machine to zip down the new edges!

I haven't found any sheets yet, but I'm on the prowl!  Let the decorating commence!

  2. Love the embroidery hoops! Great idea. And Hailey had that same bedding up until last year when she opted to get something a little more "growny" (she's 10 now). But I was in love with it when she had it in her room. And you are right, it is a lot more vibrant in person. Good luck with the room decorating. Looks like it is going to be adorable!!:)

  3. Good to know it's just as bright in person! I'm having a hard time finding flat sheets I like for the curtains, I think it's going to be a challenge.
